Chapter Six
Craig headed back down to the kitchen feeling a little hurt at Scott’s snapped response, but also a little guilty for pushing him during the oral sex. But if his mate didn’t want it, why didn’t Scott just move or stop him like he had done previously? He entered the kitchen to find Grams pulling a cake out of the oven. She turned smiling at him. Before she could speak, Mike entered the kitchen with Emma at his side.
“Marcus is almost here,” he said.
Craig felt himself pale as the butterflies began fluttering in earnest in his belly. Mike placed his hand on his shoulder.
“It will be fine. Marcus is a good man and even better alpha. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be allowed around my Emma,” he said settling some of Craig’s nerves.
Emma stepped forward. “Let’s go meet dad,” she said.
Grabbing his hand and pulling him toward the front door. Craig had no choice but to follow when part of him wanted to run and hide in his room. Mike followed close behind. Where was Scott? He needed his mate’s strength, even if he was still upset with him.
Just before they reached the front door, Scott came down the stairs and took Craig’s other hand.
“Don’t be nervous. It will be fine,” he said before kissing Craig’s forehead.
As the four of them stepped onto the front porch, a black Mercedes pulled up on the driveway. The car contained two men, but Craig recognized Marcus straight away. He looked so much like Alcide from True Blood. Emma pushed passed him and ran to the car as the front driver’s door opened and a tall man with dark hair and a beard stepped out, hugging Emma close. Craig took the time to study the man he had seen several times before, but now knew to be his father. He wore jeans, boots and a checked shirt. How many different checked shirts does he own? Craig wondered as Marcus turned in his direction. His body gravitated by itself toward Marcus and Emma until he stood just a foot away. Looking into Marcus’ chocolate brown eyes, Emma’s eyes, why hadn’t he seen the similarities before? Before he could ponder on that thought, Marcus pulled him in to his chest and held him tight. Craig felt warm wet tears hitting his neck, and his own dam broke. He hugged his father close while sobbing himself. The sense of safety and security encompassed him like never before, but left him with the sense of da-ja-vu. His wolf whimpered and wanted to submit to the alpha wolf holding them. Emma hugged him from behind, her arms around them both.
They stood like this for several minutes before Marcus pulled back and wiped his eyes. Craig sniffed and smiled at his father, Wow, my dad. Marcus smiled down at him, “You look just like your mom, and you have her blue eyes and beautiful blond hair. God, how I’ve missed you, son.”
“I really don’t know what to say. It’s
